2008 Blaine-Gagnard Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge

Medium-intense ruby color with a pink rim. Medium-intense aromas of sour cherry, cough drop and dusty minerality. There is a light touch of coffee. The wine is fresh, clean and pretty with the hint of a dark streak on the nose but not overripe or broody. Dry with 13% alcohol, medium-bodied with high tart acidity. The fruit is not generous, it is rather restrained but there is a lovely sweet attack to welcome you. Slightly gritty, grippy tannins, particularly on the finish along with lingering acidity. Cranberry and sour cherry flavors. Not overly complex, but very pleasant, solidly structured and refreshing. Not expected to develop any real complexity, but the tannins will likely settle down overthe next 3 or so years.
